I've been trying to post this all day but keep getting sidetracked
I want to share with you all what happened on my first Purple Day. I didn't even know there was such a thing until I read about it on here on Sunday. Not expecting much I posted about it on Facebook and asked my friends and family to wear purple on Monday to help support the cause. I did this fairly late in the afternoon on Sunday so like I said I was expecting too many people to see it in time. Well, late Monday morning I got a text from a dear friend with a picture of her preschool class. All the kids were holding large purple papers to cover their shirts. As if that wasn't enough, she goes on to tell me that when she saw my post she put a whole lesson together for her class. She told them what Purple Day was, explained what epilepsy was, showed them pictures of famous people who have/had suffered from it, and then tells them about "the strength and courage of her dear friend" (me). She said "They think you are a hero...and so do I!" OMG, I couldn't believe it. Although I am far from being a hero, I couldn't believe she took the time to do that at the last minute! Of course I cried. Not only is it comforting to know that I have such amazing, understanding friends, it made me excited to know that one little post led to an entire preschool being educated about epilepsy! I can not wait to get started on projects for next years Purple Day...I want everyone to know about epilepsy, understand it, and accept people who have it!!!
