I had my appointment today with the cardiologist. She was quite suprised to hear the run around Ive had with my primary care drs office. Telling me I have one thing, then weeks later saying I have another!

The cardiologist will be having me do a stress test on monday, december 12th. The reason she wants to do it is because I have insulin resistance, and was dx'd with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) at the age of 18. I also have a family history of heart problems. My dad had to have stents put in at the age of 42. My great grand father died of heart problems at the age of 41. Because Im 30, she wants to get a good picture of what my heart is like, and make sure everything is healthy! Oh and she did get the blood tests that was taken at the hospital on 11/24/11 when I went into the ER that night due to my irregular heart beats. When I asked the ER physician what my magnesium level was, she said normal. But today, the cardio dr said mine came back at 1.6, and the normal is 1.7 So I was alittle low on that. It makes me angry that the ER dr told me it was normal! The cardio dr also said that when she looked up the medications that my primary care dr's office was giving me... the Pantoprazole and Omeprazole, both came back with side effects of irregular heart beat and seizures. When I brought this up to my primary care dr's nurse, she said that wasnt possible. And another thing I brought up to the cardio dr was the pain I was having in my left shoulder blade area, the collar bone, and side breast area, etc. She said with me having a history of seizures, and when I do have seizures, I stiffen up on my body, especially my left side, it could be a result of having pain and soreness from having seizures. After starting the Pantoprazole on November 19th, I started having seizures two days later... and the pain in that are came back again. She said the pain was probably due to having seizures and getting sore from stiffening up. I quit that medication after using for about 5-6 days, once I figured out what was going on, and seeing on the side effects that it can cause irregular heart beats and seizures. I havnt had no more pain since! I def believe that this cardio dr knows what she is saying. When she looked up the side effects of the medications, she went to t he same web sites I was looking at! When I saw that, my eyes got huge! Here i have my primary care dr telling me what Im reading is false... but the cardio dr is reading the same web site telling me its true! I think its time I look for a new primary care dr!

Anyways, thats about how my day went! Im just glad to hear that she doesnt think its anything serious. She thinks all the tests will come back fine, but its best to be on the safe side, just to run some tests and see how things are since I have that family history!

I am glad you finally got some answers that make sense! I would think a stress test would be a good way to have a starting point to see where you are at anyway. If you do have any problems down the line, you have a starting point to go back to and see if there are differences. Good luck on the stress test. Keep us posted!

Your cardiologist sounds really great, though I hope that you don't have to see her too many times. (I hope she's able to rule out cardiac issues.)

I hope so too! By the way she put things to me today, she said she will most likely see the results come back negative for everything... meaning not positive for anything bad! :) Im hoping thats the outcome! I havnt had any more irregular heart beats since getting off both the hydroco and Pantoprozole! :)

I am so happy for you that you have been able to find a dr. that you like and seems to be on the ball!
