yesterday I missed a half dose of my kappra cause I ran out. I took a nap today and felt my body convulse several times I tried to get up but i couldn't move it was like I was frozen.i could move my fingers though and my phone was on the pillow so I called my husband. he came home and sat me up whiping the blood off my mouth,I bit my toung and lip. i couldn't see for awhile and could barely talk.I didn't know if I got ahold of my husband because i didn't hear him answer.Could this be from just missing that half dose.I took the right amount today.it scared the h#$5 out of me.My body hurts horribly now.Has this ever happened to any of you?

It may have to do with you missing half a dose because back in November I forgot to take my pills before I went to bed, and I woke up the next morning and had a seizure. I was really disappointed because I went so long without having a seizure, but it is what it is. It was even worse because I was in my college apartment and my roommates found me on the bathroom floor. It was smart of you to call your husband, and we're both lucky that we had people we could rely on during those types of situations. Hope this helps!

Yes it really helps to talk with people who understand.I'm a bit scared to go to sleep tonight but I cant stay up forever. Thanks for your reply.

Sorry to

hear of the seizure, but it is something that happens........sadly even when some of us miss that small of a dose.....

You might want to put in a call to your neuro though....

Yes I guess I probably should talk to him. i'm still having seizures during my period and if I'm not feeling well.I really dont want the meds upped though because I'm already so tired from the dose i'm on.blaa

Other noteworthy things ....

Sorry you had a seizure, but I just want
to chime in that anti-epileptic drugs are
not a "cure" for seizures, they only help
to prevent them if all possible and control
them - but unfortunately from time to
time, one may experience a seizure.

It's true that sometimes one may lapse
into a seizure because one had forgotten
to take their medication(s). This is why
it is a good idea and a generalized idea
to have a pill planner box if all possible;
it's worth the cost (which is not expensive),
and it pays off in the long run.

Other people have a timer on their watches
to remind them, and then there are other
ways and means as well.

You might want to talk to your doctor about bio-identical progesterone as an alternative therapy for seizures triggered by hormones.

Yes I plan on talking with him about that. Its first on my list. I wont wait till the last minute to pick up my meds again, not a good idea on my part. i had another seizure last night.

Hi horse...sorry to hear about the seizure...hmmm...you say your still getting seizures near your period....they might be catamenial. If so, your doc can treat that with a hormone cream that you rub on your thighs. Ask your neuro ok? Oh...and by any chance, do you really crave things like chocolate? If so, you might want to consider going on a magnesium supplement if you aren't already on one....chocolate is high in magnesium, and magnesium can actually help to control seizures...it acts kind of like a damper..and makes meds a bit more effective. Just because you take a multivitamin, may not mean you get enough magnesium. For example, I take 1,000 mg. a day (with neuros approval..) which is way more then in the standard multi....but it works well for helping my meds to work...

Thats interesting,I do crave chocolate,i kinda thought everyone did though. I will bring that up with the neuro.
