Hi every one. Its been quite a while since I have been here. I didn't realize how long until I logged in. That's a good sign I guess. Well the bad news is I ended up in the hospital the other day. I woke up with a pounding headache and I found I could barely stand. My sense of balance was all messed up. I noticed later that I had that wonderful old fatigue that accompanies me after a seizure. The doctors said they believe that I had a seizure in my sleep and that the balance problems are a new manifestation, ( in the past I have only had memory problems and confusion). I suffer from Partial Complex seizures. It had been close to a year since I had a seizure and even then it was due to missing a couple doses of meds. I was just wondering if anyone else had had seizures effect them this way. Docs want to run me through the whole gammot of testing again to find out what has changed.
Kind of bumming
Thanks

Its good to see you! But Im so sorry to hear about your seizure and ending up in the hospital. I have had balance problems after seizures, along with the confusion. I would say its a good idea for the doctors to run tests. I have left temporal lobe epilepsy, and since i was an infant, Ive had complex partial seizures and grand mal seizures. Now over the past couple of years, ive had complex partial and simple partial seizures.

Thanks for the reply. I'm sorry that you have experienced the same symptoms. To be honest it was quite disturbing to wake up in that condition. I struggles just get to the medicine cabinet to get advil for my headache. It does however comfort me to know that I'm not alone in experiencing the balance issues.
Thanks for sharing

Hi, I too have the same type E.

Sorry to hear that you had a break through seizure. Have you been sick?

The reason I ask is when I take MOST anything tylonel, Vitamins or an antib. I will have a seizure. I also had a seizure after I got the flu and singles shots.

Hi jyearta
Thanks for your reply. No I have not been sick lately. I can't imagine how difficult that must be for you though, being unable to take most otc meds. I do a lot of hiking and am always hurting something. Without advil I would be lost. I think what is bothering me most is the fact that I never experienced the loss of balance before and how bad I felt that morning. The change in symptoms really took me off guard.

Yeah its very frustrating to wake up feeling those things. When I had break through seizures a couple of weeks ago, I was in bed, and I had woken up in the middle of the night to not feeling right, within seconds of feeling that way, and sitting up in bed, the seizures kicked in. Heck I couldnt even take the ativan out of my husband;s hand to take. he had to put it in my mouth because of the condition I was in as the seizures were trying to stop. Its one of the worst weekends Ive had. I wish no one would have to go through that.

I take Dilantin along with Clonazepam. Aug. of 2011 I had when on a diet and lost 39 lbs. the Dilantin when toxic with my weight loss and I couldn't walk without a walking cane. I didn't know what was happening, so I know how frust. and confusing this is for you.

Praying you will get answers soon.
