I had called in a refill for my 1 of my meds' 3 day's ago, I was told that I would only get an emergency refill because they were waiting for another shipment, and my pharmacy also had to call my dr to verify more refills since I was at the last of the 6 months that is allowed. I received a txt earlier from the pharmacy telling me I can pick it up today, and I did, only to be told by the pharmacist that they would only allow more refills unless I call my dr. to schedule another appointment.

I just had an appointment with him 12 DAYS AGO!!

aaaaaaaaargh, how terrible. I would keep calling your doc until this gets cleared up.

Agreed. Have the Doctor tell the pharmacist when your last appointment was. Another alternative is to go to the dr's office and pick up a written prescription instead of having them call it in. I know that alternative isn't great, but then you wouldn't have to disclose information to the pharmacy, who is probably just making sure the prescription is legitimate.

I'm pretty sure he's doing this to get me to agree to having the VNS surgery, whether I want too or not.

I'm thinking I'll have to agree so I can get him out of my hair and to leave me alone.

But, hopefully, what I can make him agree with, is to when I have it done. My Father just had surgery on his shoulder a week ago and is in horrendous, that's the only way to describe it, pain right now and what his insurance will pay for is unknown so I don't want to add more debt to what we have now. I will only have a surgery done next spring or summer.

About the appointment, I'll be going to schedule another 1 anyway, I've broken out in a rash on my face because vimpat was increased another 50mgs. It slowly went from my everyday feeling of dry in the normal areas to bright red there, on my cheeks and eyebrows, now to my chin.

From the vimpat website:

VIMPAT may cause a serious allergic reaction that may affect your skin or other parts of your body such as your liver or blood cells. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have:

a skin rash, hives
fever or swollen glands that do not go away
shortness of breath, swelling of the legs, yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes, or dark urine

Call in to your neuro's office and let them know that you are experiencing the rash.

This article http://www.jle.com/download/epd-302157-lacosamide_induced_rash--Wcexvn8AAQEAAGKoTlsAAAAN-a.pdf is about someone who gets a rash on Vimpat. It includes a photo of what the rash looks like. Even if your rash is different you should still get in touch with your neuro ASAP.

I had called my neurologist a short while ago and I just received a phone call from 1 of the nurses, and my dr. told her that it's probably not from my meds, I've been on vimpat for almost a year, and I've been on lamotrigine for almost 3-4 years, so it's probably from something else, something I've eaten, or a new cleanser. But nothing's changed, I've never been allergic to any type of food, and I've used the same cleanser again and again.

And to just comment somewhere, why is it that the nurses always seem so bored or irritated with you when you call them? Either to make an appointment, or this time, to report a bad side effect? It really makes you feel bad about messing up their day even more!

That's ridiculous. You know what's going on with the rash AND it's a listed side effect of the Vimpat. Grit your teeth and keep call to try and to get an appropriate response from your doc. And if the rash spreads or persists, go to the ER.

Your right, I'm hoping to find a family member to bring me, and if it's bad tomorrow, I'll do that!

Btw, dr's don't like me!

I went to 1 of the clinics a few days ago, and the dr I saw says that he has no idea as to what is going on with my skin. He thought it was Rosacea, but it doesn't quite fit in with the symptoms of it, but I was called today and was told that they'd like to try a lotion or gel to see if it will help, and if it does, It'd be great if it will help with the just the redness. I can handle the dry and flaky skin, I've had to live with that since I was a teen!

To update, the lotion I was prescribed seems to be helping, not so much on the dry/flaky side of my skin, that's still going, and as I had posted, I can deal with that, but it has brought down the red, it's more of a pink shade now, hopefully with longer use, I have 1 more refill after this 1, this will have passed by.

I think that 1 good with this is, if the dry/flaky skin, maybe the red too lasts until halloween, I won't have to dress up for when kids come for candy, I think I can scare them a bit with it! (not to scare them horribly though, I hated that when I was a kid, I refused to go into any type of Haunted house around the city, we had, still have, a "Haunted Ship" that gets dressed up every year, and I won't go in it. I've been told that it isn't as scary as it's made it to be for the ads and word of mouth, but I still won't go into it!

That's great that it's helping. Hopefully it was just an allergic reaction to something minor.
