Hi,
Sorry peeps, I know I'm posting a lot. I have a lot of questions at the moment. I can't believe I forgot to mention this and I forgot to ask. I have an Arachnoid Cyst on the right parietal side of my brain measuring 30x40 mm. It is benign. I also have some v small colloid cysts which are benign also. What I wanted to ask was, do any of you have any growths on your brain at all? My Neuro doesn't want to operate but, well brains aren't supposed to have stuff on them ya know? I'd be really interested if anyone has anything similar. Thanks x

Hello Angelita,

I've had a benign brain tumor the size of a baseball (9 x 9 x 2.5 cubic centimeters), right on my Left Parietal lobe. So yours still has time to get to that size. But yes, nothing is supposed to be growing on or around or in our brains. :) I had to have mine out ASAP since it was so big it could of caused a coma. Two days after they found it, I was in surgery and a complete removal was done. I know a lot of docs want to go by the wait and see approach, especially if it's small and not causing any problems. But that is the thing, is it causing any problems? Other factors come into play as well, like your age and health, whether or not you are a good candidate who can take surgery.

It's tough, but i always recommend getting another doctor's opinion, there are places where you can send your MRI images and they will review it for free. There are other options, like Gamma knife, but i think yours has passed the size limit, but not sure.

After my surgery, i started having seizures on a regular bases.

Do you have parietal lobe seizures, by chance, or was the finding of the cyst just incidental?

Zolt, Oh my gosh thats a good size tumour! :-o I'm glad they managed to remove it. That must have been such a worry for you! Thing is, over here in the UK it's much more structured with medical treatment so it's more difficult to get second opinions etc. We don't as a rule ever get given a copy of our medical tests like MRI's, blood results etc. Jen, mine was an incidental finding after a 4 day migraine. I took myself off to the emergency room and I kept saying I could feel pressure at the back of my head. They did a CT and picked them up there. I haven't had parietal lobe seizures that I know of but I'm still waiting to see my Neuro and hopefully he'll be referring me to the Epi clinic so who knows?. They do tend to operate on them in the US but not over here for some reason? I don't know, like I said, it can't be doing any good for me surely? and my symptoms seem to be steadily getting worse? Thanks for the replies.
