Hi everyone, my 18 month daughter has (most likely) benign rolandic epilepsy.

Has anyone had experience with managing this with no medication? The seizures are not usually frequent, so we are reluctant to medicate at this stage. Thank you for any help, we are very anxious.

Hi Sweetkezia, welcome to CWE!

Most pediatric neurologists will hold off on treating BRE unless the seizures start to escalate. Has the neurologist made a recommendation either way?

Here are some threads from the CWE archives that may be of interest:

:hugs: to you -- I hope you can get some peace of mind soon.

The seizures are not all that frequent, but there are definite triggers, like tiredness, physical stress, sickness etc. It would be great to hear from others who are going through the same thing.

Hi Sweetkezia. We are new to the whole BRE thing too. My 4.5 yr old had his 1st seizure (that we know of) right before thanksgiving. A daytime 15 min partial. He was immediately put on Trileptal which is something I'm really struggling with. I'm looking into doing a full GAPS diet with him since he has known food sensitivities and digestive issues. His seizure happened right after an exhausting trip paired with lots of eating out (which we don't usually do). I have a feeling those were his triggers. No seizures since his first but with the meds it's hard to know if that's due to him not having any or the meds. Welcome to BRE. I hope you find the answers you need to help your DD and get the support you need!
