When I had my MRI out showed up white spots which my neuro suspected being blocked arteries / veins ( I can't remember what he said specifically). I was sent for a cholesterol test and my bad cholesterol was nearly a whole point higher that it should have been. So he's now convinced that I do have blockages.

He gave me no advice except to change my diet (and even then I got no further info). Now I'm petrified that I am at risk of stroke. I am looking into getting a second opinion, but other than eat better I have no idea what to do.

So here are my questions. Has anyone else had blockages on their brains? If so, how were they treated? Should I be worried about stroke our is that just paranoia?

???? Did you see the report? This sounds fishy to me. I don't think guessing is appropriate. Yes get a second opinion, and ask for a copy of the report. One point higher than normal for cholesterol is not a big deal... did I read that correctly?

If he's right, then you need to know more because you can't live in this fearful state. Calcification in your vessels are called plaque... I'm fairly certain they have medicine for this. I don't think it adds up.

I hate when we go to the doctor, they are vague, we are scared, and we get home going.... "what just happened?" And then it takes two more months to get back in. :) please update if you find anything out. :)

NOT paranoia... you need more info so you feel safe.

Apparently the healthy range for cholesterol is under 2.3 and I'm at 3.2.

There was no written report with the MRI results. I've seen the images though and know the images he's concerned about.
I have an appt with a new gp this week, and she has a reputation for being a bit of a dog with a bone when out comes to finding answers. So that will result in a referral to a new neuro, but I imagine that will take a while.

Oh well, I have an appt for a sleep deprived eeg in a fortnight, which means I'll bee seeing my current neuro in about 3 weeks. With a bit of luck I might come out of it with more answers than questions.

Good luck with the new doctor(s), and the tests -- I hope that you get more information and better allies to work with.
