Hi,

I was wondering if I can give blood, I live in the UK, I've researched and 1 article says 3 months fit free another says 6 months fit free

Thanks.

Medication i'm on:

Lamictal: 500mg a day
Keppra: 2000mg a day
Frisium (clobazam) 10mg a day

Hi benjw :)
In my state (Indiana) we have to be seizure free for 1 year. I have tried a couple of times to give blood, but always get shot down.

Hi benjw --

I think there are concerns that the process of donating blood may be too stressful for someone with a seizure disorder --either emotionally or due to physical stress like dehydration. Technically, there's no reason why someone can't do it, especially if you're past the seizure-free time limit specified in your area. Below are a few threads that talk about donating blood:

:agree: I've never been able to give blood.

Here in PA they told me that you have to be either 6 months or a year (can't remember which one, sorry) seizure free.

They said that being on the meds didn't matter, it was just when your last seiuzre was.
