I tried drinking coffee in the morning to see if it would help me to get an energy boost it did a little. I started to notice I was having myclonic jerks which only has happened between almost asleep (can't explain it) almost out but yet aware to some extent.

I stopped drinking coffee and cut back on the diet sodas I was drinking. It seems caffeine triggers myclonic seizures in me? I was never diagnosed with it, but my doctor suspect it is those type of seizures. Has anybody else had this happen?

For some folks, caffeine is a seizure trigger, whether it's myoclonics or other kinds. Even if you don't have epilepsy, too much caffeine can cause muscle spasms, twitching, restlessness, etc. But "too much" is a relative term. Some people are completely unaffected by caffeine.

If you haven't already, you might try taking a magnesium supplement after dinner/before you go to bed. Magnesium is good for brain health, but it also plays a role in releasing muscle tension, so it's possible it might help in your case. Check out this thread: http://www.coping-with-epilepsy.com/forums/f23/revisiting-magnesium-25241/ to see what folks have to say about it.

I get hand tremors if I drink too much caffeine. As Nak said, how much is "too much" is a personal decision.

For me, too much is anything more than one cup maybe once a year.

Effects of caffeine generally wear off after 8-14 hours, so I would think that drinking a cup of coffee in the morning for that energy boost would not be causing the muscle jerks. Any caffeine later in the day, however, may affect sleep.
Another thing: have you ruled out hypnic jerks? These are very common in anybody (ie. not just those with epilepsy) at the "almost asleep" state you are describing.
