I felt like I was about to have a seizure. :ponder:

shaking, the feeling that the deja vu was about to come on.

I took 2 DROPS of Vit. B complex, and within 1 min. that horrible feeling left.

Is my mind playing tricks on me.

A while ago a neurologist suggested when I feel a seizure coming on to count backwards by 2's starting at 99. She said that trying to mentally process something will help lessen or stop the seizure.

I haven't found any scientific proof that says Vit. B helps seizures but it is possible that just processing the thought of going to take the vitamine is what stopped your seizure.

That does make more sense.

I would think if it could stop or even lessen a seizure, that a Dr. would have told (all of us) that.

Excellent posts but they all relate specifically to pyridoxine dependant epilepsy only.

Maybe I should have said that I have not seen Vit. B to be proven helpful to any other type of epilepsy. From what I've read pyridoxine dependant epilepsy is very rare.

I want to be VERY careful here, because there are people in this forum who have been JUST diagnosised w/ E.
I surely don't want someone to read this and think they don't need their seizure medic., that they can just take Vit. B complex.

Very good point jyearta. Nobody should stop their meds without consulting their neurologist.

The possibility of triggering a seizure are too strong.

I would also like to add the following:

"It is the opinion of our clinical advisor Dr Morgan Feely, clinical pharmacologist at Leeds General Infirmary that it is difficult to judge the effects of folic acid on anti-epileptic drugs such as phenytoin, primidone and phenobarbital. However, it is conceivable that folic acid could lower the level of these drugs, particularly phenytoin. Changes to drug levels could in turn affect seizure control."

According to a genetic test there are no Mutations in my ALDH7A1 gene which is nomally associated with the typical form of Pyridoxine Dependent Epilepsy.

I have never used anything other than Pyridoxine HCL and a Multi B Complex tablet to control my severe seizures.

I have always received Pyridoxine on prescription and the multi B complex table that I use has been analized by the hospital.

This is an extremely rare condition,
