My daughter has been prescribed Carbmazapene (at least thats how I think its spelt). She feels quite sick and tired most of the time and seems a bit out of it, but has only been taking it since Thursday, is this normal? Has anyone else taken this ?

Many thanks

Carbamazapine

Thanks for that , rang my GP who advised to stop taking it as she had a rash and was feeling unwell. Neurologist is going to call me in the morning and hopefully can prescribe something else.

Cant thank you enough.

When I had a rash from that med I used soya milk or almond milk or rice milk to take baths and it really soothed my skin.

I'm on this. There are so many side effects listed on the insert of this medication, it's hard to read and remember all of them (and the list keeps getting longer every time they update it, due to new research). But it's normal to have to try out a few medications before you find something that doesn't cause too many side effects and controls the condition well. Good luck with finding something that works.

Another thing your neurologist might mention is that having fits can make a person sleepy as well.

With any of the meds for epilepsy , I would take naps and sometimes lose appetite or increase appetite in the beginning until my body adjusted to the med.

After a sz I always need to sleep the day away.Alot of times I have a headache after a sz so I would take a ativan to sleep it off .

brain...it's a good, informative reference you posted, but:
The Drugs.com drug-information database is powered by four independent leading medical-information suppliers: Wolters Kluwer Health, Physicians’ Desk Reference, Cerner Multum and Thomson Micromedex. Individual drug (or drug-class) information content compiled by these sources is delivered complete and unaltered by Drugs.com
It's not an "FDA official site".

The way I read it is...

The Professional Drug Information database is a repository of drug information sourced directly from the FDA. It includes detailed notes on the clinical pharmacology of a wide variety of drugs.

The Drugs.com website is owned and operated by the Drugsite Trust. The Drugsite Trust is a privately held Trust administered by two New Zealand Pharmacists. The Drugs.com website is hosted in a data center located in Virginia, USA.

Actually many Medical Professionals uses
that website all the time, that's how I learned
of it; I saw them use it in the ER.

http://www.drugs.com

Did you know this website also gives you an
opportunity to list your medications down, and
it will TELL YOU if there is a conflict? dangerous
combination? or if you're okay?

They're the ones who told me about this site
and it's been on my list for a long time. I
don't even have it bookmarked.

You will be surprised how many ER Doctors,
Hospitals, etc, uses that website.

NOW if you want the DIRECT US GOV WEBSITE:

OFFICIAL US FDA WEBSITE

This is also found on my Head Storms Resource
page as well; and that link above is the MAIN
HOME page - which includes everything, not
just for medicine.

brain, it's a good site with solid info. I was just being a bit pedantic I guess. Sorry about that!

I took it for two days and it gave me such a bad rash all the way down my throat it gave made me sick.... I got everyone else in the house sick then as i just got worse even after I stopped the stuff it was a horrible experience. Generic for Tegretol in case anyone hadn't figured that part out...
