i have been on carbatrol (tegretol/carmazapine) for 21 years before it decided it was not going to work any more. i got to the highest levels i could possilbly take and had to introduce a second med (keppra). my purse is a firm believer in montherapy if possible, so with the doctors help and a good year under my belt, i am totally off of the carbatrol. with many years in my system it seems it has taken a toll and i am desperate to know if there is anyone else out there that has gotton off of carmazapine and what is your experience? how long before the body gets used to not having the stuff? my body has grown with the drug. what does long term drug withdrawl look like? do you have any body ticks? health related concerns because of it?

I hope you get better, in my situation I am taking it for 12 years and my situation is good.

I am curious as to how long you have been off of the drug.
What do you do for ridding your body of toxins?

This was the first drug Rebecca was put on. It caused terrible vision loss for her. From one minute to 48 hrs. I think it also was a precurser to new odd seizure activity that she hasn't seen since being on this drug for a short period of time.

I've been on tegretol most of my life & would be very curious to know what you go through & what changes you see in yourself after stopping it.
