Clumsy on Clonazepam

I went on a day coach trip to Bath on Saturday. I’m on 5mg of clonazepam, 4mg at night and 0.5mg morning and noon. I think I have already mention on this forum that since being on this drug, 29th September, I have been drowsy, clumsy and prone to falling over. I went into Bath Abby, a beautiful building, and I lit a candle for all my loved ones, foes and the world in general. I sat in the choir pews for a few moments, taking in the surroundings and counting my blessings and thinking of all who suffer. Then I got up to leave the pews and fell into another pew, hitting my head and being jabbed in the back by something sharp. I was stunned for a while but I had a friend with me who made sure I was alright and helped me up. I fine now- just some bruising.

Friday I have an appointment with my doctor. I’m a bit reluctant to tell her about my falls because I benefit from the drug in many other ways and I’m worried she may reduce my dose because I suffered severe anxiety before going on the drug. Not sure what to do at the moment.

Incidentally, when the coach arrived at my dropping-off point, I stumbled with my bag and shopping – the driver said I must have had a good time in the pub to make me tipsy! I don’t drink so this upset me a bit but obviously I was not going to tell him I’m on medication and so forth. Do others suffer from clumsiness and falls due to their medication?

After I started taking Neurontin I started having vertigo & feeling off balance. I have had a few drop attacks where I actually fell down & once fell into a mirror. I felt out of control as if someone had pushed me. I was retaining fluid which effects the inner ear.

Have you had a vertigo attack yet?

hi Emee!

I don't really get dizzy. I lose balance and/or I become careless and trip usually.
Must try to pay attention to what I am doing!
:)

Sorry to hear about your fall. That kinda stuff has happened to me too. And I know its embarrasing. I ve had people tell me that I look like Ive been on Bourbon Street and I think its the seizure meds and all that make me clumsy I also take Keppra for the simple partial nocturnal seizures and a low dose of Elavil to prevent migraines

I take 5mg of clonazepam but I only take it at night if I took it during the day it would make me spacey especially if I went out and about. If i do have to take it during the dayh I stay home but I usually take it at night and I find it helps. Its better than Xanax.

Thank you Eve. it might be an idea to ask my GP if I may take my 5mg at night.
:)

I'm sorry to hear of your falling. I hope you were not hurt to bad. I know that it's embarrassing to fall or to look like your spaced out on something.

I take clonazepam (0.5) tablet - I take 1/2 tablet every 4 hours except at bedtime I take a whole tablet.

Are you anyother medic.?

Do you have weakness in your legs?

I'm asking because I was having problems with my gate, stumbing and needed a walking cane.
It turn out that I had become toxic on Dilantin and B-12 shots.
--I was seeing a diff. neur. at this time--

Hi, yes I do have pain in the legs and I stumble quite a bit. I wake up in the night 2-3 times to use the bathroom and become very unsteady so taking 5mg of clonzepam at night might not be a good idea
