I have grand mal seizures I was abruptly taken off of Tegretol Xr back in march 2012 after developing a rash...few days later I almost died in a car accident. I was then put on generic Keppra and was having auras, very wired, and couldn't sleep. My neuro switched me to namebrand Keppra and I have been seizure free since then. My insurance through UHC is now showing in our outpatient rider that if I want to continue taking namebrand I have to pay the difference between namebrand cost and generic this would be way over $500 a month(called product selection fee). My question is has anyone experienced this product selection fee with the insurance company and is there a way to appeal this and actually get it overturned and have the fee waived. I plan on writing an appeal, however I want to make sure my delivery is effective. Now that my company goes through the Aon corp health exchange my benefits department is no longer helpful. I was misguided and advised if I have my dr put DAW on the prescription this would waive the fee, however the plan language changed and this is no longer effective. I have previously tried Lupin generic and I called one of the local pharmacies and they advised they use the generic made by Camber pharm, the others use Lupin. I can't imagine another generic would work if the previous manufacturer didn't. I have a month to hopefully get this overturned otherwise I will have to switch to generic again. Anyone tried generic Keppra made by Camber pharm?

I think med pricing and substitution rules can vary a lot from plan to plan. I take the generic of my med (Lamotrigine/Lamictal). The generic cost me $15.00/month, but if I needed to take the generic it would cost me $50.00/month -- not great, but nowhere near $500! I hope you can get things figured out.

The link below will get you to some threads that discuss generic Keppra -- I'm not sure if they mention experiences with Camber's Keppra in particular.
