Hi. So I was diagnosed with complex partial seizure disorder back in December, I have been on medication and everything was going fine but I have been feeling strange lately. I posted earlier about having an electric shock feeling which makes me disoriented for a few second afterwards. Lately I have been getting these strange feelings like there are really loud noises in my head, like there is a shouting, and I cant focus or speak during that time. I can walk around and function but I feel strange, almost like I'm scared of something. I remember this use to happen to me as a kid. It's almost like I'm back there again. I dont know if this had anything to do with epilepsy but its starting to freak me out.

Hi kak120 --

Any time strange sensations show up for someone with epilepsy, most likely it's either the seizures or the meds to blame. What you describe may be Simple Partial seizures -- those can be characterized by a feeling of strangeness or fear, and phantom noises. The inability to focus or speak suggests that perhaps there may be some generalization (spreading) to make them similar to Complex Partials too.

Either way, you should track what's happening and check in with your neurologist.

My simple-partials tend to go along the same lines, especially the sound part.

I've had to learn to distinguish between real sounds and seizure sounds which are all in my head. Basically, when I hear something strange, I take a second to consider the source. Seizure sounds tend to either sound like they're coming from between me ears, of they have no distinguishable direction... Normal sounds originate from away from the body, so the way you hear it gives you a decent idea of the direction it originated from.

It drives me nuts sometimes, because I'd rather think about other things, but I keep a journal and I try to keep track of them, and to do that, I have to distinguish between the two. :)

Try and keep track of them, as Nakamova said, and let your neurologist know about them. :)
