Hi as a few of you know I had been seizure free for over 3years, a nurse changed my contraceptive pill despite my reluctance, that was friday morning, friday evening I had what I think may of been an absence seizure, not entirely sure, I'm due to see my epilepsy nurse thursday, another of the same happened sat and yesterday anyway I'm going to get to the point I have had a head ache for days!!!! I'm saying head ache but it feels more like I'm being stabbed in the head, front right side mainly, not as bad on the left, does anyone else have this and is it related to seizures?? I'm generally confused and wanting to take my brain out because it hurts :( sorry for rambling, hope your all well x

Lucy i understand these annoying headaches but you have to keep your brain inside your head...sometimes i feel like there is a concert inside my head...and the music sucks...MAKE IT STOP! MAKE IT STOP! i say...but i can only just wait for the dreadful experience to subside...that and take some ibuprofen and massage myself or get massaged...also stretching and eating seems to help...that and drinking lots of water (go figure)...not saying i don't already do those things but when the headaches come (in waves)...it seems staying active in some way (besides intense exercise) seems to help...maybe it is a mental distraction thing...a mind over matter issue??? Whatever it is i hope you find a way to deal with your pain...i send you relaxing and pain-free vibes :)

I understand what you mean, I can stay active and busy to some extent while having these pains are getting to the point where I can't open my eyes, I'm crying in pain and it makes me feel physically sick. It only seems to of got this bad over the past week, they leave m$e feeling exhausted and quite confused too, I'm just hoping to find something to sort it out ...trying to back away from the paracetamol before I get too carried away taking it, I'm really worried about it affecting my work aswel, I'm a hairdresser, I got one of these head aches a few days ago while I had a client it wasn't as severe as some so was still able to carry on doing what I was but I don't know if that just made the pain drag out more if that makes sense?! Aahhh I'm so confused and its like no one who is close to me understands :( hope your pain free vibes work :) I think I'm annoyed too because I was just getting back on track with driving, work etc and now iv gone backwards again, obviously no more driving couldn't even consider a risk like that at the mminute x

It's most likely a kind of migraine triggered by the hormonal changes from the new contraception. It may also be related to your epilepsy -- sufferers from temporal lobe epilepsy can get severe headaches. Does the headache respond at all to ibuprofen or naproxen? Do you feel any pressure or swelling in the eye area where the headache strikes? I hope you can get some relief soon.

After almost all my seizures I'll have a horrible headache that will last for hours. Most of the time unless there is someone there to see me have a seizure I don't know that I've had one until I get that headache.

The change in your meds could have brought on seizures. I'd ask your epilepsy nurse to see if that could have been the case.

Thanks for replying, I only took the one pill of levest I'm going to try and get back onto microgynon, erm no the head aches don't respond to anything to be honest once its there its there an I can't do anythin about it, I have gone to bed the night before with a severe head ache and woken up the next morning with it too and sleep normally helps, I don't get swelling or pressure on my eyes its just above them it feels like my brain is swolen or something and its pushing against the front of my head, that's the only way I can describe it x

YEP! Same feeling here...though I notice it more so towards the base of the skull and around the jaw/neck area...but it does seem to move around as it pleases and sometimes it's my entire freakin head!!!...it feels like a combination of tension/pressure...I had a TMJ MRI done recently so going to rule that out as possibly contributing to my headaches...I get the results in a few weeks...waiting sucks lol

I'm the worst for waiting for results! So impatient haha! What's a TMJ mri? I had a normal mri when I was diagnosed, I'm going to see my epilepsy nurse tomorrow so hopefully I will get somewhere, tried for an appointment with neurologist consultant but earliest is december, when I'm due to see him anyway, well I'm off to college for the day, see how things go...in till 8:30 :( x

TMJ (or "TMD") is Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction...my jaw is always tense/tight...not sure if I grind my teeth or clench my jaw in my sleep but I know I do it throughout the day absentmindedly...I cannot easily open my jaw all the way and it pops where the jaw joint is connected to the skull...this disorder can cause many other issues such as headaches/hearing loss/vision loss/etc...in other words...IT SUCKS!!!

Here is some more information on this disorder:

Oh dear that doesn't sound too good :( thanks for the info will have a read on my break, hope todays a good day for you :) x

Depends where you are...but its pretty much always guaranteed to rain haha! X

Ahhh yes rain indeed...something we don't hardly ever get here in the western U.S....but I meant more specifically to where you are...just curious lol...I've been to Europe (Portugal and Germany) to be exact...the only two things I remember was rain and snow (and misery...but that was for completely different reasons...I did enjoy the scenery though lol)...but it was sunny from time to time...wasn't there long though...here it is mostly dry throughout the year with a little bit of rain in the early and late seasons...but yeah it gets hot as hell here...luckily I am between mountains and ocean...both of which are beautiful :D (damn pollution collects in the valley)
