My Doctor switched my meds from Tegretol (generic) to Keppra (gen.), a low dose still as its only been a month but I'm wondering if its all in my head. Seems rash is back along with the wonderful {ha ha} state of exhaustion Keppra gives me.
Anyone else get a rash (on my chest and left side) from Keppra? Could both drugs give me the same reaction? Im frantic:banana:

I got small hives and itched like crazy after being on Keppra for 4 days. I was still itching after a 6 day course of steroids. I can't take allergy meds or that might have helped a little.

Call your doctor asap. I doubt it would get worse, but that's nothing to bet on.

When I started Keppra in 2006 I got a rash. I did go away. Can't remember how long after.
Sorry!

MAB...Did you continue on with the Keppra? What are you on now? My neuro just wants me to see a dermatologist. Did you?
Thanks MAB

This is so frustrating. Can't take this drug, cant take that drug...but I can't find out why. .? What is in these meds that I react to so I will pass on the culprit in the future? I wish I knew what was gonna happen. The times I have changed meds in the past have been scary, dangerous times that reduced me to the emotions of a child. Day by day ...
Thanks for reply

Nanellen, I only took it 4 days. After the rash cleared up and the itching finally stopped, she switched me to Lamictial.. I haven't had any proble,s with it except some occasional brurry vision.

Yes. I am on 750 mgs. daily. I have been on higher doses but have slowly reduced myself. Keppra was the very first drug I was given and has worked well for me thru the years. Unlike others here, I have NOt had any Kepprage. BUT EVERYONE REACTS DIFFERENTLY TO EVERY DRUG. That's one thing I've learned.
I was very lucky in that the 1st drug taken was good. I know it can be frustrating but you have to persevere.
Just listen to your body. NO ONE ELSE KNOWS YOU BETTER THAN you!
Good luck!
