Hello,

Here I am wandering around on the web searching for information and hope it's okay to ask questions here.

I am quite worried and this is pretty long so whoever reads thank you!

I suffered a pretty bad concussion and physical injuries a year ago in a car accident (was rear ended) ER Dr. said I had contusions on my head from the steering wheel but I lost a few seconds so don't remember hitting it.

Very long story short, I was in PT, OT (my eyes were not reacting normally) and Vestibular therapy as I was so dizzy and felt as though I was falling when I walked. My eyes felt as though they were "bouncing" and still do at times.

Cognitive problems were awful and still not 100%

A few months ago I suddenly felt as though there was something really wrong with my brain and had to sit down (it's so hard to describe but something was not right) I felt "spacey" for a few minutes and felt so scared, this happened a few times.

Then a few weeks ago, I suddenly felt so nausea's, my brain felt so weird, something was happening, I managed to walk to my husband, I knew what was around me but it all felt so small if that makes any sense, just not right.

I went on to my side on the bed and stayed there for about a minute then sat up, both arms and all fingers started shaking/twitching, inside they felt like electricity but and it felt as though they were really shaking but when I looked at them, hardly any shaking, this lasted for a few minutes then just 2 fingers were twitching.

The next day I felt strange and suddenly couldn't hold the pen I had in my hand, started shaking on one side, (one arm) and my head fell backwards and shook. At the ER they did a CT scan which came back as normal.

Over the last few months I have lost time, for eg: I can be walking along and suddenly realize that I'm walking, my mind went off somewhere, it's not just day dreaming, it's something else, so hard to explain though.

When this happens there are no thoughts and when I realize something happened, I cannot remember anything, no thoughts about it all.

Today it happened again in the store, I suddenly felt something in my brain was wrong and felt so tired, we went for a walk afterwards and again I lost some times, passed a huge building and when we were at the other end of it I suddenly looked and realized I'd walked past the whole thing and never noticed it, I was expecting to pass it but already had, again no thoughts in my head as to what happened.

Sorry this is so long, my Dr. is sending me to a neurologist but it's a 6 weeks wait.

Does anyone know what all this is?

As mentioned I had terrible cognitive problems after the accident, right after and for several months I'd lose time, it felt as though I had passed out in a chair as I'd not remember falling asleep, it was so sudden and I'd suddenly wake up 10-15 mins later, my Dr. that was normal.

Thank you so much for listening and again so sorry this is a novel!!

Any thoughts or advice is greatly appreciated :hugs:

Hi kankan, welcome! It's definitely okay to ask questions, please feel free.

What you describe sounds like Simple Partial and Complex Partial Seizures. Simple Partial Seizures occur while the person is fully conscious. They can take a wide variety of forms, but they usually involve some sort of sensory or psychic distortion -- odd feelings of nausea or fear, visual distortions or illusions (such as feeling very big or very small), phantom smells and sounds, deja vu, etc. They can also feature shaking or tingling. You can read more about them here: http://www.epilepsy.com/epilepsy/seizure_simplepartial

Complex Partial Seizures are more like sleepwalking -- the person is conscious, but their awareness is impaired, and they may say or do things that they don't remember. You can lose blocks of time while on "automatic pilot".

I know how odd these seizure symptoms can feel. They are definitely not run-of-the-mill spaciness or dizziness, but they are very hard to describe to others. If you don't already, I recommend that you keep a journal of what you've been experiencing -- anything unusual, even things that you're not sure are symptoms. This will be useful for the neurologist, and can give a sense if the symptoms are increasing infrequency, duration, or kind. If you can, push to see the neurologist sooner so that you can get some answers and relief.

Best,
Nakamova
