Hi Folks,
I sure hope none of you that have been on vimpat have had the problems I have had. I can't keep food in my system
and it's been making me sick for over a month so after doing some research on the drug I cut it back from 300 mg. a day
to 150 mg. a day and so far so good. I also stopped using the medical marijuana because I think that was bothering my
stomach also. I hope nobody that's on vimpat had or has to go through the mess that I did. I wish all of you only the
best of luck and May God Bless You!

Hello, Sue. I recall being on Vimpat--400mg/day for a while. Thankfully, I didn't have many side effects from it. I felt it just exacerbated memory issues that Topiramate was causing. I think ALL AEDs affect short term memory, though some do it more than others. Maybe those issues were due to the combination of the 2 drugs.

What I really hate/hated is the hair loss. I was only 14 when I lost 85% of my hair due to the allergic reaction from Tegretol--it never returned to its original thickness, & now is half of what was left.

Hope you feel better now
Sabbo

Hi Sabbo,

Thanks for your kind words. I'm feeling a lot better now that I've cut the vimpat. Sometimes I can't help but
wonder if some Drs. like to overload us on seizure meds. Since I cut back I haven't felt sick at all. In regards
to Tegretol I was on it for yrs. and then all of the sudden I became allergic to the drug and I do remember losing
a lot of hair. Here's wishing you only the best and May God Bless You!

Sue

Sorry to hear you both had such issues. I tried vimpat at one time. It just wasn’t working if I remember correctly.

Hi Heavy Kevy,

The vimpat worked good cutting back my complex partial seizures and my myoclonic seizures but then
after taking it a few yrs. it was bothering my digestive system so I cut back on the dosage and now I'm
feeling better.

Vimpat didn't work for me. If anything, I had a grand mal seizure from the withdrawal. Not fun.

Hi Folks,

I just wanted to update all of you since I cut back on the vimpat I've had only 1 seizure in 3 wks. even when the low
pressures came in it didn't bother me as much and I didn't have any seizures then. I'm sticking to 150 mg. a day of
the vimpat instead of the 300 mg a day. I wish all of you only the best of luck and May God Bless You!

Not posted in awhile. I hope you are well. I have never been on impatient. I was on dilating after discharge from hospital and nursing home in 2014 after craniotomy.Horrible drug for me. At that time I was also on clozepam. This combo caused encephalopathy on an eeg. My neuro at the time refused dose.reduction. I was sleepy my cognition was affected. Got to new neuro who tapered me off the dilatin and clonazepam replacing it with topirimate. Later my topiramate dose was lowered too. We have to be our own advocate. I personally do not alter my dosages without medical ok.
