So after 12 days of staring at the prescription and reading about potentially unpleasant side effects of this very new seizure medication, I have decided to give it a try. The possible side effects that bother me the most are anxiety, aggression/hostility but the risk is only around 1-4% (dose dependent). Also bothersome is the potential for irritability, which ranges from 4-12% (dose dependent). Other side effects like ataxia, imbalance and headaches are issues I have anyway, and I don't like the idea of possibly adding to what already exists. But, I'll never know if I try. My logical side tells me that but my more human side is bothered by it just the same.
Upside is that it is only one pill per day, taken at night.
Titration is fairly slow (2 mg per night to start for two weeks, then increasing by 2 mg per night every 2 weeks until 8 or 12 mg per night).
