Has anyone else had any problems with their AEDs screwing up their teeth? I always brush my teeth but now I have to go to the dentist to get a coating put on a couple.

The only AED that effects teeth & gums that I was on is Dilantin.

What AED are you on & why do you think that's what is screwing up your teeth?

Well I've seen it around about AED's messing with peoples' teeth and I have never had dental issues before

Is there an anti-epileptic drug that doesn't mess with teeth at all? I'd love to know because I've been on Dilantin & have had to see dentists for years. Thanks!

My teeth are very soft because of coeliac (celiac) disease. I'm currently grinding them at night because of nightmares and nocturnal seizures, so I won't have many left soon!

You have just given me a lightbulb moment,my teeth are in a mess, yanked out or reapetadley filled,in fact ive an emergency appointment on tuesday for a broken tooth.I must ask him if its the meds,i mean its not as if i dont look after my teeth or anything, great question.

I have to go see the dentist pretty often now (when i finally managed to get one that is!). I've broken a couple during seizures before, and i suspect that i may grind my teeth in the night as they've worn down.

I got my first false tooth at the grand ole age of 24 and have a fair few gaps in my mouth. =/
