I had some invasive dental work done yesterday & I've managed the pain until now (24 hrs) without pain med's because I have side effects to everything I take. Can anyone tell me which med's you take for pain that doesn't make seizures worse? I'm desperate for relief. thanks.

I've not had any problems with over-the-counter Ibuprofen. I'm sure some folks might be sensitive, but I've not had any issues. My dr says it's safe for me to take 4 at a time, which is actually the dose if you have a prescription for the same medication.

Just because my body tolerates it doesn't mean everyone else will. Please be safe and listen to what your dr. and pharmacist have to say.

I've found taking Aleve helps kill the pain and you only have to take the med once every 12 hrs. I've also found that Aleve helps stop my seizures. You may have to ask your
pharmacist for the med if it's not out on the counter. Good luck and May God Bless You!

For OTC meds, you really just have the choice of aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil), acetaminophen (Tylenol), and naproxen (Aleve). If your stomach is prone to irritation, then acetaminophen is the way to go. Of the other three, Advil is my drug of choice because it's good for inflammation, but also for fever and sometimes migraines.

This site http://www.colgate.com/en/us/oc/ora...-with-fewer-side-effects-after-dental-surgery says that taking ibuprofen and acetaminophen together is especially effective for post-dental surgery. Worth a shot unless you are sensitive to either drug. With any of the meds make sure to drink plenty of water.

Hope you feel better soon.

Advil. Is that the American paracetamol.....I use oragel over counter anesthetic but I have pain relief pills for my back tramadol and just knowing they there helps.otherwise got plough on through it soon gets better if not go dentist again because dental pain should ease off after 24 hours
