Have any dilantin users experienced fairly severe anxiety or mood swing/depression type symptoms?

I've been irritable since taking it. No mood swings though. It gave me a terrible hand tremor for the first couple of weeks, but that appears to have died down, thankfully.

I am taking Dilantin and Clonazepam. I have had all the above that you mentioned, however Dilantin is the one of of only meds. I can take.

I didn't have issues with moodiness when I was on Dilantin, but it's entirely possible that it could be messing with you emotionally. All the brain meds are powerful and can have unpredictable side effects. How long have you been on it?

I have been on it for a little over a year. Started on Keppra, which I've heard can have mood altering symptoms but it never bothered me. Just didnt stop my seizures ha. The Dr.s i have spoken to have also said there shouldnt be any similar symptoms from the dilantin. Just thought i would ask around

By the way, I feel bad for starting several new threads over the past 24 hours, but in my two years of seizures this is the first time I've found a community/forum with other epileptics and people with seizure disorders to whom I can ask questions instead of just a Dr. None of my friends or family are epileptic so havent been able to talk to many people with much first hand experience.

I had been on Dilantin for 31 years, when Dr. started trying the NEW and BETTER meds. on me. That lasted for about 1 year, then I had to go back to Dilantin, that was in 2005.
Short answer is 41 years.

Please don't ever feel bad to ask questions as you like, That is why Bernard set up this forum. We with E. can't really relate to others nor can others really understand our situations.

I have learned some much from others asking questions and others responding.

Don't feel bad! This is why CWE exists!
