Divalproex and flatulence

My doctor increased my divalproex XR (depakote) to 2000 mg per day, since it was not controlling my autonomic seizures at a 1500 mg level. My seizures are sweating events occurring roughly every 28 days. The amount of flatulence I am experiencing is amazing. It has certainly impacted my bowel habits as well - lets say they can be rather explosive.
Could anyone else comment?

yeah, Depakote is on the list of meds that cause flatulence. (See http://www.peoplespharmacy.com/2013/05/06/medications-can-cause-smelly-gas/).

If you have to stay at that dose, then you might look at changing your diet to see if it helps a bit. You could also try Gas-X or Beano.

One of the meds I'm on is Depakote.

I have runny stool and the neruo told me that it was probably caused by one of the meds that I'm one, can't remember which one though.

If I leave a stinker I'll poop myself (have done this before) so I have to hold it in until I can get to a toilet. I also explode when I sit down. I know that I have a bowel movement at least 3 times a day.
