I have seen a correlation for me. I think not always but, in addition to other 5possible triggers. Anti biotics triggers?

I actually haven't ever taken antibiotics (knock on wood) so don't know if they are triggering for me. They definitely cause problems for some (see CWE threads at links below):

Some antibiotics can interact with seizure meds, raising or lowering blood serum levels of the AED. See https://www.epilepsy.com/article/2014/3/effects-antibiotics-seizure-medications

There are certain antibiotics that are known to increase the risk of an individual getting seizures. These include: isoniazid, lindane, metronidazole, nalidixic acid and penicillin. If you take a vitamin B6 supplement along with these antibiotics that can reduce the chances of a seizure. If you have kidney problems you are more likely to suffer from seizures when taking these antibiotics.

Here's a list of drugs that can lower seizure threshold:

I had an increase in nocturnal episodes with amoxicillin, but perhaps it was the illness itself that was responsible for the increase (?). Also had GI issues with the antibiotic, which I understand is fairly common, and this may have affected how much of my usual medication was in my body.

Hi Janus,

I didn't have any seizures but the antibiotic made my seizure med become toxic and I ended up in the ER very sick. I couldn't stand up on my own and I had double vision the antibiotic caused a lot of poison in me and I was down for about 3 days if not longer. I hope you are feeling better and May God Bless You!

My Neuro told me the antibiotics I took in January specifically lowered my threshold hence the seizures that put me in the hospital at the end of the 7 day antibiotic regiment. I never knew they'd do that, but I hadn't been on any since before I was diagnosed in 2002
