Have you gotten your hives checked by a doctor to make sure it's not Stevens Johnson syndrome?

This is from listed Lamictal side effects:

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction to Lamictal: hives; fever; swollen glands; painful sores in or around your eyes or mouth; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Please contact a Dr. right away!

I've been in Lamictal for 10 months. I read that Stevens Johnson syndrome usually only happens in the first month or so of taking Lamictal. I even had the same rash on my chest before and showed it to my Dr. and he said it wasn't Stevens Johnson syndrome. I'll call my Dr. again Monday though.

Benadryl is a good antihistamine and used for allergic reactions. Allergic reactions can happen at time* but usually when a new drug is introduced. If you suspect your medication is causing this reaction, call your doctor ASAP, He may have to take you off the Lamictal and give you something else for rebound seizures.

*My husband used bacitracin for many years. On his 50th birthday, he got injured at work and needed to have a fingernail removed. The ER put bacitracin on the raw nail bed and within minutes he went into
anaphylactic shock If he had been any place other than the ER, he would have died! Drug allergies are nothing to fool around with.

Take note of the word usually. You can run the risk of developing the rash every time you increase the dose, or sometimes if you add another med to the mix. I don't know if any of that applies to you, but seeing your Dr is a good idea.

I started taking 3 in the morning and 1 at night as early as 1:00 PM or 3:00 PM because of the insomnia problem. The Dr. gave the OK to take the 3 in the morning and 1 at night. I was taking the last 1 earlier because of how bad the insomnia was. I guess I didn't get away with taking it that early in the afternoon. I am going to try and go back to 2 in the morning and 2 in the late afternoon and see if that helps. I will be calling the Dr. tomorrow.

What a pain meds are -- simple changes can sometimes make things topsy-turvy.
