I'm sure i'm paranoid about every little thing now and that's probably the cause of my latest problem but anyway, just thought i'd ask.
I had a dream before waking early this morning (just before 6am) and in my dream I had a seizure - a doctor was injecting me with some kind of drug to see what reaction I had. It wasn't like any of the tonic clonics i've had but it was like I started to numb and tingle all the way up one side of my back (as I have been whilst awake, although not in my back) and the EEG the doctor was taking at the time showed that I was having a seizure . Thing is I felt like I actually felt this whole sensation, not just dreamed it (obviously, not the being injected part) but I also know that dreams can sometimes be quite realistic so i'm thinking that's all it is but at the same time curious about others and what happens with you.
I know that when I was 13 I had a dream overnight/early morning that I had a seizure (t-c) and later that morning, after I had been awake a couple of hours I did have a t-c. I hadn't been feeling well for a day or two and wonder if the dream could have been an aura - is that even possible???
I also know that Epilim (sodium valproate) is know for causing strange dreams so that's probably the most likely cause however, I am curious to know if a person can 'dream' whilst having a seizure????

Don't you lose consciousness during tonic-clonics though? If so, it was probably just a dream...a very real dream, but still just a dream. But it could be sort of an 'aura' to an upcoming seizure I would think?

i'm not sure if this is really what youre getting at , but i know several times over the years i've woken up in the morning swearing i had a seizure , but at the same time had no injuries ( biting my tongue , bruises , etc ) so i then wondered if i had just dreamed the whole thing .... it is weird , and i've never been able to explain it either

I didn't say it was a t-c or that I even thought it was/may be. All I said was that it was unlike any tonic clonic i've had (because that is the only type of officially diagnosed seizure i've had). As for losing consciousness though that is not always true as i've been able to clearly recall other people talking whilst I was having a t-c but obviously was unable to talk or control movements myself.
Also, I do think that it was just a dream, just wondering if it was possible for it to be anything else ie. can a person 'dream' whilst having a seizure of sorts or could a person have a 'dream' as a type of aura.
I think most likely it is a side effect of my medication as like I mentioned strange dreams is a known side effect of sodium valproate.
