My daughter stayed at her boyfriend's last night. He woke up at one point and she was sitting up with a look of terror on her face. She didn't respond when he spoke to her. She got up to the loo, went back to bed and fell asleep again.

She remembers nothing of this. Does this sound familiar as an E thing to anyone? Thanks.

It could be a form of parasomnia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parasomnia but it also fits nocturnal a complex partial seizure. Is this one of her seizure types? Either way it is worth reporting to her neurologist. Any chance she can set up a video camera/webcam in her bedroom when she is sleeping alone, to capture any night episodes?

Thanks for that, Jen. Not sure if parasomnia fits but she has never, as far as I am aware had a complex partial - simple partial, yes. Planning to report it to her E nurse next time we see her and setting up a camera is definitely something to consider. Cheers for the reply.

I'm not sure if I have seizures in my sleep, my husband and I sleep in separate rooms, but I've done things like this several times during a complex partial.

I get up at 7, take my meds, feed the cats then get back in bed and fall back asleep for a while. About a month ago when I'd get up the second time I'd been having seizures when I was doing the first set of things. I had put things in parts of the house that they shouldn't be - My robe was laying on the couch, the empty cat dish was in the sink instead of garbage can and once I found toilet paper on the floor instead of in the toilet (just hope I wiped!)

I may just stare off into no where, I'm not sure what the expression on my face is though. If someone tries to talk to me I won't respond when I have a complex.

One time I got up off the couch and loaded the dishwasher while having a seizure. I didn't know that I'd done it until I went to put more dishes in it later and saw how all the plates and silverware were set in it.
