hey guys thanks for reading this, so my appointment is thursday morning for my EEG andim scared, not of the EEG but the results! what if they are 'normal' and they try telling me or making me feel like im some crazy! i mean is there anything else this could possibly be?? all the symptoms of temporal/simple's and absence?? what else could it possibly be? im scared that what if nothing comes up and they pin me as some kind of hypocondriac? these symptoms are far past the imagination station!! what if they try to shrug me off and can they tell in 2 hours??? omg :(

I've had numerous EEGs and many of them have come up "normal" but that doesn't mean that I'm not having seizures.

Any neurologist worth his/her weight will know that too. Some seizures just aren't picked up so I really don't think you need to worry.

As for being crazy....... I've accepted that fact that I probably am a bit (if not a lot) crazy a long time ago. It's really not so bad :pfft:

My first EEG and MRI came back clear but my neurologist didn't chuck me out in the cold and tell me I was crazy so unless your doc is a loon or doesn't really care about his/her patients then I wouldn't worry too much. It'll be alright, I'm sure they'll have found something and I'm sure your neurologist knows you're not making things up.

Now I'd like to welcome you to the crazy group... we're not too bad. Just a little fun to hang around with and such. I like being a little (or a lot) crazy, makes life a little more interesting and fun! But crazy in the good way, of course.

thank you guys :)
im sure im working myself up over nothing but its kinda daunting that this is not just a sprained ankle its my brain having a few issues lol, and my Dr is great but I haven't met the neuro yet so I cant question his ability lol I just don't really understand everything about the appointment I know they want me to sleep and stuff there but in 2 hours ?!?! I guess we will see tomorrow what it will bring, im freaking myself out about the what ifs ... what if its something silly like an infection somewhere causing my symptoms... I mean im sure id know if I had an infection somewhere, is the anything else that could possibly cause my symptoms??

Hi Holly,

There is no reason to be scared. Like Eric has said, many EEGs have come back as "normal" but that doesn't mean you're not having real seizures. And that you're crazy. It's just that sometimes they just don't show up for many during the EEG stage. I

If it were something else causing your symptoms, like a tumor, that would show up during the EEg. Did you ever have meningitis or encephalitis? Sometimes people who have had those illnesses can end up having seizures in the long run. I never had any of these things happen, but I sure did end up with seizures.

The doctor won't think you are crazy. My EEG in the office was normal, but then my doc sent me home with a 48 hour EEG and it showed i was having complex partial seizures.

im trying to think of anything and everything that "MAY" trigger activity im going to call it today! lol anyway thank you again for your help and input and Cint I have never had meningitis nor encephalitis but I was in a nasty car accident and got kicked in the head by a horse HAHAHAHA! so maybe they are part .... but defiantly a recent increase of activity in the past 5 years getting worse :( im sure I will get to the bottom of this one way or another ... thanks again guys

Well, I think this could be a possibility.

Were you knocked out in the car accident? Did you go to the hospital? How bad did the horse kick? Did you black out from either of these incidents?

hey Cint, the car accident no but the seat hit me in the back of the head and neck and basically the next day I went back to the hospital because my neck and back of my head blew up and they thought I had broken the vertebrae in my neck but turned out I didn't and the horse yes I woke up to a bunch of legs stood around me because when he kicked me in my face, I was lucky half an inch lower and he would have opened my face but thankfully got me on my forehead above my left eye but my head flung back into the gate and I don't remember anything after that until I woke up soaking went in a huge muddy puddle and all I could see was horse legs lol. I just cant find anything else that would cause "Auras" the way I have them and I had an absence in the Drs office ... well that's what he said he thought I had .... I remember asking him ummmm what were we talking about couldn't remember and my head like floated to the left

and I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone over the past month for being so supportive of my confusion too, I just hope I get answers soon so I can start getting back on track with everything, can anyone think of anything else that this might be if it is not E?? even with all the signs of simple partial seizures being present ?only thing that may be contributing to this is low thyroid which was detected in my recent bloodwork..... but the auras?? is there anything else that can cause all of those symptoms of a simple partial at once?

My personal opinion is that you should stop worrying about what it "might" be & just focus on getting the appropriate tests & focusing on the results when you get them.

When I was in Massage College the woman who taught the pathology course always started the first day by telling the class that before the course is over, everyone here will think that they have at least one of the diseases you are learning about. You don't.

Our imagination is a strong thing & placebos have proven that by how well they can work. I believe that focusing on things you probably don't have might just make it harder to find the actual results so do the best you can to relax, go for your EEG & worry about what you know the results to be when they come in, not what anything might be.
