I was wondering if anyone knew what the effect of fasting or decreasing caloric intake/food more than usual can have on AEDs and their blood levels? I've been having trouble with my eating disorder and wondered how it's effecting the medicine.

Well, aside from issues of low blood sugar (a seizure trigger for many), and the overall metabolic imbalances that can result from fasting, there is also the specific possibility that you might have a deficiency in one or more of the B vitamins. These deficiencies can lead to elevated homocysteine levels, which in turn can lead to AED resistance (i.e. your AED won't work as well, or work at all.)

In general, most AED meds are better absorbed when the body is digesting properly.
