I haven't been feeling well lately and so I took some time off work and I've been doing a lot of "research" on YouTube watching videos about epilepsy and schizoaffective disorder/schizophrenia/bipolar. However, I'm having trouble finding people who have a combination of epilepsy and these mental illnesses together. A search on google for "epilepsy and schizoaffective disorder" or "epilepsy and schizophrenia" mostly comes up with academic papers about comorbidity studies. It seems that temporal lobe epilepsy has similar symptoms to schizophrenia/schizoaffective. Anyway, it's pretty irritating.

I'm looking for forums or other people who have mental illness and epilepsy together. I'm having a lot of trouble dealing with both issues together and would really like to talk to someone who is going through the same thing as me. If you know of any YouTube videos, forums, blogs, or people who are willing to chat please let me know, I would appreciate it. Thanks for your support.

You have a lot going on in your life and cannot be easy for you, I am not much help to you regarding forums or blogs or whatever, to be honest they are above my head. I was very lucky to find C.W.E. The one thing you should remember is coping or dealing is going to have to start with you, you start by realising that you are just as good as anybody else if not better no matter what hits you. You can handle all this and more no matter what life throws at you and you will find what you need. I you ever want to talk you know where I am, just PM me.

I think there are CWE members who carry the extra weight of other brain illnesses -- depression, bipolar, paranoia, dissociative disorder, etc.. Double trouble. If you rename this thread to specifically mention mental illness (I can do it for you, if you'd like) you may get even greater response from folks who are also struggling with those burdens right now.

In the meantime, big hugs from me. I have a relative who was recently diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder. She's quite young and also in a new city, so it's been very hard for her, and she also has benefitted from having others to talk to.

Thanks Nakamova. I can edit the contents of the post but it doesn't seem like I can change the title. Maybe something like "epilepsy and schizoaffective - looking for support" would be a good title? Thanks.

Resaebiunne,

I'm so sorry to hear what you are dealing with. I understand how difficult it can be. In addition to epilepsy, I am on medication for depression. I know how it feels when some days you feel like you're on top of the world, and others, the world is on top of you.

Friends and family try their hardest to be supportive, but you're still needing more. I totally get it.

If you ever need to talk, feel free to message me. **Hugs**
