I have joined a gym in feb, working out 3 days a week. I've been eating healthy and taking post-workout muscle building protien shakes - and have not improved on strength or have one inch of thickness on my body. No muscle tone - however I have torn muscles. I've done shit loads of research, I don't know what my problem is, all I can think of is muscle dythrophy, even though I'm not losing muscle - I just can't build any muscle, not even muscle tone.
I'm wasting my money and hurting myself. I give up. I want to try a moderate amount of steroids just to keep my self at a healthy weight and strength. I'm not trying to be huge and manly, just healthy. I'm underweight(113, should be 125-130), I have RA, and after seeing a doctor - possibly carple tunnel syndrome. I work a rigorious job, on foot. Not only do I want to increase weight and strength for my health and job - I want to look and feel good. I'm so thin, my co-workers act like I need help when ever I'm lifting things - if I need help lifting things, I'll ask. I'm 26, and I'm sick and tired of being the "child" at work, it's really pissing me off and I almost feel like quitting. I never liked steroids, but I'm still in my youth - I can't give it up. I bet I only live to be 40 and I'll be a cripple probably in the next few years.

Now I want to know, do steroids interfere with epilepsy? Can it cause seizures? I have catamenial epilepsy btw.

lots of the meds we take kill muscle growth,

back when i was delivering sandwiches, I was losing money, because i was spending 6- 8 hours a day on my bike on hilly roads and i couldnt keep myself fed, and i was losing weight, eventually had a seizure in the store. and passed out.

the roids I doubt it, but ask a doc first. considring a lot of the shakes are everything we try to keep out of our bodys. some of the weight gains shakes can be good though, but they dont do much. natural stuff like fruit. is awesome but pricey. I went from like 180 to 150 on the meds. important thing is moderation,

do what makes you happy but be careful.

I've researched if muscle loss/wasting was a symptom of the meds I take(Depakote, Lamictal, and Keppra) and have not seen anything regarding that.

I was taking steroid pills for a problem I was having and another time I was taking steroid shots in my back for problems. I started having a lot of seizures both times when I was taking them, but when I was done they stopped. We put two and two together and realized that it was the steroids that was causing them.

I told my neuro about it and he thought it was probably the steroids that were causing then. I don't know if they were reacting with my meds somehow or if it was just me? I'd defiantly ask your dr. If you do decided to take them and start having more seizures than normal then I'd stop.

i take carbamazapine, tegratol, and have taken a few others

I take keppra and lamictal and while I don't have an appetite to speak of, I force myself to eat 3 a day and I don't lose weight. If you are just not eating, not only will it hurt your body, it could also be counterproductive for epilepsy.

steroids allegedly don't affect epilepsy, however due to studies that have shown estrogen to be pro-epileptic, i'd advise against it.

i'm not doctor and all this is just my opinion...

steroids HAVE caused seizures in people, but it's not sure whether it was just a seizure during their cycle or it was triggered by the juice.

if anything i'd go with a steroid that won't aromatize into estrogenic metabolites. steroids like dianabol probably have the bigger seizure risk, if there is any to begin with.

if i were you i'd just ask a doc. tell him you're underweight. also, get your testosterone levels checked, AEDs lower TEST. levels by raising shbg, he'll probably prescribe a testosterone replacement therapy.

that being said, an ex recreational steroid user, depakote seemed to kill my gains slightly while i was on testosterone enanthate 250 mg/week (relatively low dose compared to the BIG guys out there).

yeah I am a swimmer and a cyclist, so i am tiny anyway compared to a lot of the guys, even when I was lifting. My friends still laugh at my "bulked" up pics. so take my opinions with a grain of salt to.

just wanted to remind the OP, that steroids come with a boatload of side effects, and they're all (except maybe anavar) virilizing.

a more controversial method to gain weight (however less muscle specific, especially if not in conjunction with exercise) and dangerous (hypoglycemia induced coma/death) but still legal in most states without prescription.... INSULIN. the most anabolic hormone known to man apparently.

i strongly advise against it though, i had a friend who almost died. he didn't consume enough carbs with his insulin and went into shock, he ate gummy bears and he passed out only to wake up 10 minutes later feeling sick.

there's really no simple answer to this question... the safest methods you seem to have already tried (protein shakes)..

i'm also thinking progesterone (a female hormone that keeps estrogen in check, is anti-epileptic, and helps build muscle and stimulates natural insulin response) however, once again i'd check with your doctor over all this.
