I started epilim three months ago and have been having serious issues with my stomach ever since. I'm told that the medication is irritating my stomach lining and am being treated with Nexium when needed for it. I get severe nausea at night while I'm sleeping, which wakes me up every 10 minutes. Since I cannot take the Nexium as a chronic medication (it's very expensive) I have to go through the nausea for three days every week or two, which is horrible. I have had bad reactions to all the usual first line epilepsy meds thus far, so if I don't stay on the epilim I will need to go onto something off-label, which is less than ideal. Are there any solutions to this problem and have any of you had this effect from epilim? It is supposed to have a special coating to prevent this from happening but that doesn't seem to be doing its job for me.

I don't take epilim, but have had similar issues with other seizure medications. Try having a snack at the same time you take the dose of epilim, something that contains some protein, fat and carbs (eg. a piece of bread and peanut butter or cheese).

I took epilim with tegratol years ago and that made me nauseous. It wasn't so bad once I stopped the tegratol.
