I’ve always taken my evening dose right as I am getting into bed. My pills are next to my tooth brush. Easier to remember 😕. I’m usually in bed at the same time around 11:00
Seeing that I’m on such a large evening dosage. I’m going to try and gradually take my medication a little bit earlier. Maybe try and get to a place where I can take it a hour before bed.
Might help me sleep and be less groggy in the morning.
Anyone take their evening dose a certain amount of time Before trying to sleep?🛌

Hi Heavy Kevy,

I don't take my med before I go to bed but I take it at 5 pm and in the beginning it would make me tired but
my body has gotten so used to it that it doesn't bother me anymore.
Try cutting back on any caffeine or foods with carbs in them and see if that helps you get to sleep faster.
I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You!

Sue

I take my morning epilepsy meds at 7am and evening meds at 7pm - 12 hours apart. I'm usually in bed by 10pm. I have other meds that aren't epilepsy ones that I take when I get in bed.

Maybe start taking them a half hour earlier for a week then an hour. See if that helps any.

Thanks!
What led me down this thought process. Was that my dr requesting having my blood drawn prior to my morning dose of medication.
Bonus I learned a new term: Trough Level

The trough is the lowest level of the drug while in the therapeutic range. Obtain Before Next Dose. Obtaining Blood Before Next Dose. A trough level should be drawn before the next dose is due, and helps determine if the next dose needs to be adjusted, depending on the results.

Since I take my meds 12 hours a part from one another they are taken 8am and 8pm. I've worked it that way as the Xcopri is usually the one that knocks me out so by 10pm I'm usually out. There have been times it's 11 but in many cases it's usually 10.

Funny thing, I'm usually up by 6:30am every morning, sometimes it's 5:30am but in many cases it's 6:30am. I've been sleeping well due to this Xcopri and not feeling over grogged when waking up in the morning. I will have a few cups of morning coffee then I have a smart phone app called Dosecast that reminds me to take morning medication every day at 8am and 8pm. Took me awhile to find one that works and I've been staying with that one.

I take Xcopri and my neuro has me take it in the evening, that's when my neuro told me to take it.

I generally take my morning dose of meds between 8 & 9am. Before breakfast would be difficult--I eat between 5 & 5:30am.
My nighttime dose, which includes the 250mg Xcopri, I usually try to take between 8 &9pm. I will take it earlier in the evening if we're going out and I know that we won't be home until very late at night.

After those 2 complex partial seizures I had within hours of each other, I'm starting to think my brain is becoming "immune" to Xcopri as well, or at least to the dose I'm on. I can't increase the dose any more due to cost.

Every person is different with medication. I follow the dosage and the timing that works best for my needs. We determined that the 8am and 8pm works best. Something I will say on this, there has been times when I've needed to drop medications back by an hour or more because of surgery. When that takes place, I do contact the local pharmacy just to ensure my thought of a schedule for that day and the next is all good.

I love working with the local pharmacist as they've been right there when I need assistance for issues like this. I do suggest contacting your pharmacist if you have a question to do a short time change for medication taking then switch back to normal schedule. If it's long term time change, it would be best to reach out then speak with your specialist.
