I have recently been put on tegretol as well as my other meds and i have noticed facial hair as well as hair growing everywhere a women shouldnt have hair. Has anyone else had this with tegretol? Should i be worried? Any feedback would be much appreciated.
 
Not on tegretol, but have had facial hair on various meds, so it was the joy of plucking or celebrate Movemember.

Not much help other than to say your not alone.

Thanks queeniekp. Its growing everywhere not just my face. I have heard tegretol messes with your hormones i dont know if its true.
 
I think most meds mess with girly hormones to a degree, maybe worth having bloods done when I was younger and for the life of me I think it was gabapentin I was on, I was diagnosed with PCOS which gave me the 3 F's fat, furry and inFertile.

Now the zonismide is making my hair fall out (but that may have just been the B 12 deficiency).

Our meds certainly are crazy.

Speak to gp/neuro and see what they say.

Queeniekp i have had my bloods checked the hpspital said they were fine. I have tried speaking to my neuroligist i have had 3 well 4 when i get this one. 1st one was useless and the rest dont av a clue whats going on and dont know what to do. Did the meds knack your periods up?
 
My periods were knackered because of the PCOS but having a period was a trigger for seizures plus I used to be on enzyme inducing AED'S so chose depo provera for birth control which for me stopped periods completely.

Now I'm on zonismide which isn't enzyme inducing but am on implanon (long acting reversible contraceptive) again no Aunt Flo - but that doesn't happen for all women.

Yeah i can relste to seizures been triggered by time of the month. My periods used to be spot on, now since been on ep meds there all over the place. Some months i dont even have a period. It has to be the meds thats knaled this up for me. I hope i can have kids because someday i do want them.
 
I dont know what seizures i have. Neuro dont know and gas reffered me to domeone else because she dont know what to do. My seizure control is up and down. Can go weeks withoutvany n thrn have a few in same week.
 
Im sick of waiting fpr answers. Its been a good 3 maybe 4 year i have been waitin for them to tell me what is going on. Thanks i hope i get sorted too.
 
That's shocking pet, I know sometimes it's more art than science but sheesh! Then saying that my 'team' thought I was mad when I actually had a B12 definecy so go figure.

I have had that many neuroligists its unreal. And none of them know what they are doing.
