first hello to everone hope all is well. in Jan when I started to train harder for running 5k,s I started comimg close to fainting.when I would get up from sitting thats what would happen.went to pcp and was taken off flomax.was told to drink more water.sometimes it helps sometimes not I also drink a lot of coffee during the day.some of the strange parts is that this does not happen getting out of bed or in the morning,or early afternoon,so far only after 4pm and 11pm and not every day. the e-meds I am on are keppra750x2,lamictal200x2other meds are plavix, lipitor.I have heard that the meds some how work through the kidneys so maybe that is part of it. any thoughts and help would be appreciated. my wife and I have done two races this year and have done well in both at least for a 61 year old who just started running.

stay well

Hi triller,

What you describe sounds a bit like orthostatic hypotension http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orthostatic_hypotension and/or dehydration. If it's the former, it's easily diagnosed by doing a resting blood pressure followed by a standing one. If it's the latter, then keeping hydrated is important -- but not just with water, sports drinks or comparable are equally important to help replace electrolytes.
