Hello, leery of bruising ribs going over a bedrail anyways, I have been looking at fall mats. That seems like a good way to go, my reading shows they are difficult to walk on when 4" thick and I can see how that could be but is a 2" mat enough to take the impact out of a fall off my bed to the floor?. Does anyone have any insight or experience with these?. Thank you, James.

Interesting question! I have no experience with fall mats myself. The reviews at this link https://www.top5reviewed.com/fall-mats/ suggests that 2" is adequate. You might ask at your local gym -- they may have good advice about gym mats.
