Hi ya'll
I don't know what is going on. I decided to ask here if this has ever happened to anyone here.
The last few days, I have episodes where my lower back feels like the skin is on fire. It only happens once in awhile. I thought it felt like my skin was burned. Looking at the skin, it doesn't appear to have a problem. For the time the skin is burning, I break out in cold sweats. After 30 minutes or so, it just stopped. Today's episode lasted longer, I put the ice bag on my back so I could stop it.
I am on Keppra, I know other seizure meds can cause skin problems. I know I need to call doctor. By the time, the burning stopped ,I was exhausted and fell asleep for 4 hours and it was too late. Just wondering if this is something that someone else has experienced.

Hi d. I have been on Keppra for almost 10 years now and nothing like that has ever happenned to me. I would get my little tushy into the Dr. right away and have that checked. and please let us know how you are doing.Teresa

I agree with Teresa, go get the pain checked out. It could be related to some sort of disc problem. Better to get some kind of intervention (maybe lidocaine patches) -- you don't want it to progress or get worse.

I would also have that checked out,but alot of people, myself included have sensations on their skin that dont really exist. Some feel bugs crawling r landing on them and I have had intense episodes where I will try to dig at something under my skin that itches-like inside me.I have also had crawlingmovement against the small of my back when I was sitting down-like an animal was inside the chair cushion behind me

Definitely have your doctor check it, but in my own experience, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and one of the symptoms is burning sensations on your skin. I do get these sensations regularly but never knew what it was until my diagnosis. Check out webmd for fibromyalgia symptoms and good luck at the doctors.

Oh, my. That sounds so painful. Did the ice help at all?

I agree with everyone else. Go have it checked out. It could be anything from fibro to a nerve problem to shingles. All of which have a treatment of some type. You shouldn't have to suffer.
