Hello all,

I was diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy (right and left) on 2/6/2013. I have been having simple partial and complex partial seizures for years. I went to several doctors and was diagnosed with things like vertigo and hypoglycemia. Finally I went to a neuro who stated it was migraines as EEG only showed slowing theta waves... I had eventually given up but decided to go back one more time and this time they did a sleep deprived EEG which found high burst activity, spiking, etc. after years of searching for an answer, telling my md before I thought it was seizures, It finally has been confirmed and I no longer feel crazy!

So now the journey begins. They have started me on keppra working my way up to 2000 mg a day within the next two weeks. I have been on it for three days now at only 500 mg (2nite I increase to 1000mg) and it makes me super tired.

It's just nice to know that I am not crazy and I am glad I went back even when the doctors didn't listen.

Anyways, I won't ramble but that pretty much sums up my story!

congrats, a lot of us know how awful it is to get a doctor to believe that your having seizures. It took me years for proof on an EEG. Becareful on the keppra it can make some people hostile, made me a dangerous driver.

Congrats on getting a diagnosis. Let the healing begin!

I hope the keppra works for you. You might want to take a B6 supplement -- it can help keppra side effects.

Hi Issy,
Welcome to CWE, that's great to hear that you finally got a diagnosis.
Good luck with the Keppra.

Im so happy you got the answers you needed! I take Keppra, actually Keppra XR, along with a new add on medication I recently started, Topamax. Ive been on Keppra since for 14 years now and its been a great medication that controlled my seizures. I have left temporal lobe epilepsy, and was dx'd at 18 months old. I agree with the others about trying the Vitaman B if you start to feel emotional on the Keppra. I was told about the Vitamin B in late 2010 and have taken it since and Ive seen it does help alot.

Thank you everyone, I anticipate to be asking a lot of questions in the beginning but it is just nice to find a group of people that understand. :-)
