So! A lot of you have been following everything that's been going on medically. I went to my new doctor yesterday (epileptologost) and was absolutely amazed. It gave me hope in doctors that I haven't had in a long time! He really took the time to sit down with me and figure out what was going, what types of seizures I was having, and what treatment would be best for me, and the best part was he didn't act like a doctor, he was happy and I could relate to him. He didn't really understand why my other doctor gave up after two medicines. So what he has decided to do is ween me off of the topamax considering that has never worked. He is keeping me on Keppra, because it gave me some seizure control, just sporadically. Finally he is adding 100 mg of Vimpat and then moving me up to 200.

I really think he knows what he is talking about, his goal really is for me to get better and start driving. :)

 Yah!!! So glad to hear someone with a good story. It does make a different to have a good doctor.
I am on Keppra too. I have been on it since I got diagnosed and it seems like I can be seizure free for 5-6 months and then I get a seizure out of the blue. My neuro keeps upping my level, I am going to ask if he can add another drug to help with my seizure control.
I am so happy for you!

Told ya things would look up! Now Hugs all around!

That's great news! It's just like meds -- if you keep trying you will eventually find a doctor that will help you control your seizures with minimal side effects.

Jordan I'm so happy for you. It's so important to have a doc you can get along with and can have good trust in.
Glad to read you're feeliing positive again!

That is wonderful news! I am so happy that found someone who is willing to help. I too know it is hard to find a doctor that knows seizures. I am glad to see a story that gives me hope. You are a real inspiration to me. Let us know how you are doing.:woot:

COOL BEANS, Jordan!!! I am soooo happy for you!!!:clap::woot::woot:

Jordan,

Good to hear you finally found what you're looking for. Isn't it great to have a dr. who actually listens to you?!

Jordan - I'm so happy to hear that your appointment went so well!!!

Congratulations and good luck with the new meds. :)

Good to hear that. I am on the same combo of Keppra and Vimpat. I just have 2 questions for you. What is you dosage of Keppra? After you get going on both could you let me know what side effect you are having? I just want to compare.

I am on 3000mg (1500 2x a day) I am waiting to see the side effects. So far I havent had any, but I am on a low dose. We'll see!

:clap::clap::clap: I'm so thrilled for you. I've thought of you often lately. I actually spent the day at an Epilepsy conference that I helped promote and Vimpat was discussed. Sounds very promising the epileptologist speaking is the lead EEG guy at Henry Ford Hospital and he was very excited about the prospects of Vimpat. I get to drive in one week so watch out world here I come.

It sounds extremely promising. And yesterday was the first day I didnt have a complex partial or even a simple partial in a long time. And I'm on a low dose. It feel so good not to lose moments of my day. At first I was kinda wary taking it, because I haven't heard of many stories, but I'm hoping for the best!

Ohhh, Jordan

I am so pleased for you that you had such a good day yesterday!!! Here's to MANY more!!!:clap::woot::woot:

Jordan
Just wondering how you are doing with the Keppra and Vimpat? I am still having complex partials on Keppra and was doing some reading on vimpat and wondering if it is working for you. I go see my neuro soon and wanted to discuss with him
