Hi there everyone.
Basic Intro and Profile to follow:
I'm a 24 Year-old Male from South Africa. Had 15 seizures since they started in late 2005. I was on Trileptal for a few years then changed to lamictal 300mg on 13 May 2011 and have been on Epilin 600mg for the last month in conjunction with the lamictal. I also take concerta 18mg, for HDHD since 13 May 2011.
I work a half day from home and I haven't got much work done today after trawling through this forum. It really is great, and I've never spoken to another epileptic in my life, so it's nice to be able to relate. Got quite emotional reading all the stories on here and facing up to my own situation. It's not easy.
My seizures have been sporadic. Much more infrequent to start with, like months apart, and even a year apart, but recently they've become more close together like 4 in the last couple of months. I've never had a siezure in the late afternoon/evening and never had one on a weekend.
I realise people on here can have up to a few a week, which is hard to believe, but it doesn't detract from the fact that it's a disease and the lack of a clearcut prevention or cure is quite distressing. The neuro cant find any signs and I can never feel them coming on. Recently I think about having a seizure almost all the time. whenever I'm performing a new task, like having a shower, or watching TV or going out with friends to clubs (flashing lights etc)
I've got so much to say and get off my chest, but I'll leave it there for now.
Let's chat.
