Im on week #3, at 75mgs twice a day. My final dose would be 200mgs twice a day.

Im wondering if Lamictal makes you have insomnia? I can see it listed as a side effect, But just wondered if its a common one or a rare one? I was just curious if anyone else that takes lamictal experiences insomnia too?

Im seeing that I cant get to sleep til after 2am, sometimes its 3:30am, and then having to get up at 7am to get kids ready for school, I feel like a zombie! Luckly some of the days, my youngest who still stays home with me, he will go back to sleep after taking the kids to school. Today I got to lay back down and we didnt get up til 11:30am! I know I can do this everyday! Ive been trying to get to sleep earlier, but my body is just not tired!

Any advise? Thank you!

I don't think insomnia is a rare side effect,i had that too but i think you get used to it over time since i did manage to get some sleep.

Btw its much better than keppra when it comes to fatigue,i was on lamictal for 4 years and never felt what i feel with keppra.

If you will develop headechs on everyday basis talk to your neurologist and ask for advice. My neuro never told me it was a known side effect of the med so i just suffered thinking it was normal.

I've had some insomnia while on lamictal. It seems to come and go.

Things that have helped me in the past.. for falling asleep earlier, melatonin can help. Turning off the florescent lights and TV after a certain time. I find if I turn off all of the electronics, and read by candlelight for a while it helps me fall asleep.

I had insomnia when I started on Lamictal. When I did manage to fall asleep it would be very light, and I would have very weird vivid dreams too. It went away after a few months though, and I sleep fine now.

Thats exacly how Ive been too! I didnt put the dreams together with starting the lamictal. The past couple of weeks Ive been dreaming some really weird dreams! A couple of nights ago my husband heard me crying in my sleep. I was dreaming that we were in a car going going onto a ramp from the interstate and the car went out of control and we went into a lake nearby. I was trying to get the kids out of the carseats and I was in a panic that I couldnt reach the kids in the backseat. Talk about crying my eyes out! I couldnt get back to sleep after that. The other dreams have been with other family members, and they were so real!

I hope the dreams go away soon... with not being able to sleep the best and the dreams put together, it doesnt give me a very good night!
