So its been 3 and a half weeks. So far its not been all bad. Still not seizures. So theirs the bright side.

Bad side, the possible side effect of loss of appetite and weight loss hit me like a train. I have lost 25 lbs with no sign of letting up. Maybe 10 of those lbs could have been ok to lose. I have an extremely hard time forcing myself to eat food. I'm getting weak and I'm tired all the time. And its really starting to freak me out. I spoke to the Doc about it, well his office really, and he said give it two weeks and "we'll see". So who knows what that means.

Ace...off to take a nap

You're on Topomax, right? When I was on Zonisamide, it has a similar effect -- I had no appetite and couldn't eat. Since low blood sugar is a trigger for me, eventually it caused a seizure, and I switched off the Zonisamide.

Losing that much weight that quickly is unhealthy. I think you should be persistent and call the doctor again to get some advice on how to put the brakes on. Try eating little meals throughout the day. Set a timer if you have to.

If the medication is new it might be that. If not the meds then diabetes can be an issue.

Contact your doctor (again!) so you can get this figured out.

I am on that zonisamide as an addon to trileptal and its working good for seizures so far--but i have lost 8# in 6 wks but i gained alot on one of the other ones-I forget which one-last summer and i was heavy anyway so iwill use this to my advantage.I do have to force bites of food because it does make it hard to eat but at least i can be choosy and eat good things instead of cramming 3 pieces of pizza!Hopefully losing weight will be a plus right now-Im really going through a rough patch and am fighting going back on antidepress.

Yeah, I'm on Topomax.

4 more pounds down. I'm 5'10" and weigh 140 lbs. now. Oh well, people like to be skinny I guess. Maybe I should just be happy. Called the Doc again and he doesn't think anything is wrong so why should I...

I don't remember exactally which med it was that I was on at the time, but all I wanted to do was sleep. I don't know how much weight I lost. I went to the neuro and talked to him about it and he changed my meds and I started eating like a normal person again.

There was another med however, and I don't remember which one that one was either, but I gained a ton of weight on it. I would eat like crazy. I'd wait till my husband went to bed and eat half a gallon of ice cream (no lie) then hide the box in the garbage can so he couldn't find it.

We talked to the neuro about that too and I think he changed the dosage of it so I'm eating pretty normal now. I could still stand to loose some weight, but I don't think that has anything to do with the meds, I just need to start exercising again!
