For those of you who have gotten off Vimpat...how did you manage?

Thanks!

I'm on it now and its been the only thing that has stopped both my day and night seizures. J/W why do you want to go off it?

I am losing my hair like crazy. Other then that, it has been a pretty good med...I think. I do have some weird eye sight but I don't know if it is the medication or not.

I was on vimpat for one year when I came of it, I knew after 3 months I wanted of it but try telling that to someone who does not take these drugs. The eye sight is the vimpat and the hair lose although that would not bother me.

I am still on it because I tried to replace it with Lyrica so I could knock out some nerve pain at the same time. It was awful. I go back to the doctor on Thursday. I have been on Vimpat since May and wonder if there is any chance my hair would stop falling out at some point but since it is getting worse I am guessing not.

Well...not anything I can't cope with. The first night on it scared me so I only took 50mg after that until I talked to my doctor. I got bad nightmares and an intense room spinning at like 4 in the morning, maybe on the brink of the meds wearing off. I also wake up talking... Use to be embarressing but there isn't much my boyfriend doesn't know about me and I'll take talking in my sleep over seizures. I did unfortunitly have 2 brake through seizures this morning before I took my dose :( I'm worried like most medications they work amazing for the first week then my body gets used to them and they stop controlling my seizures. Its a constant WTF this worked so well why is it not now. As far as other issues not so much. maybe a little off balance, but I'm a Yoga teacher, and I swear I only started doing yoga one year ago and teaching it for 6 months, I have wayyy better balance so I really think that helps, even 2 to 3 times a week. Try Yoga, even if just for inner peace of mind. And believe me I thought it was all crap before I tried it and now I am soo much less stressed and have a sweet new body.

I take 100mg morning and night. They upped to that when I was in the hospital so if there were any funky side effects I was unaware because I was on so much other stuff. My balance has continued to be a huge issue for me so I will give your suggestion a try. I also get dizzy a lot but that was even before the meds. That is great that Yoga has helped you so much. The new body is a great side effect.
I am sorry that you had a couple of break through seizures. Sometimes I get the feeling like something is coming and then it goes away. It is weird. I sleep really hard at night. It seems like I have very vivid dreams but no nightmares. Thank God. By any chance, have you ever been on Keppra? Just wondering.
