So I'm going to see my doctor today, it's about the new medicine they've put me on ( onfi). I'm on topimax aswell as vimpat. Thier trying to take me off of topimax. The notion of birth control keeps being brought up in every meeting.
No went to a vitimin store and purchased a calm zone magnesium powder that could be mixed with a drink aswell as a bottle of vitimin d3
I'm going to ask them about taking that but they most likely won't care.
I'm also going to ask them about lowering the level of vimpat they've put me on. It's really high and expensive.
Any other questions I should ask? I'm not really sure.
I made a log of my reaction to the new medication onfi. Sooooooo I'm going to show them that. I hate going to the nuerologist.
So any other questions I should ask or topics I should bring up would be great.
Thanks.

Its very hard to tell somebody what to ask as generally you know yourself what you want to ask, try writing the questions out on paper and bring it with you. You could ask about vitamins if you need them, ask about the side effects of the drugs you are on, blood tests, if you think there is something else that you want an answer for ask it, and do not be afraid to ask any question.

I keep a seizure diary in a daily planner notebook.

It has:

-When the seizure was, date and time
-What type of seizure - Simple partial, complex partial, or Tonic clonic
-How long it lasted
-I have a VNS and mark down if I had to use my magnet
-What I did during it, like walk around the room, sit and stare, do things etc..
-What happened after like a headache and how long it lasted
-And anything else that could have happened that I thought was important
-I mark down anything that started happening if I changed dosages or was put on any new meds, epilepsy or other (even if it was just cough syrup). I started taking steroids once and saw that they were causing seizures.
-I also mark down anything else that I think he should need to know or that I want to ask.

I do this right after the seizure happens or right as I think of the question to make sure I don't forget it.

My neuro really likes this because he's got all the information there and we don't have to spend half the visit with him asking me questions about things and me trying to remember the answers. Anything I want to know is wrote down too so that when I get home I don't say "Shoot! I forgot to ask him about that!"
