I've heard the same psudo-classical background music every time I call the clinic or the hospital it is connected with. It is such a repetitive, dronelike tune I've grown hate it. They keep you on hold for so long you begin to space out on it and I've even made up words to go with it's cyclic computerized imitation of hypnotic nothing. The Hamster Dance for 12 hours straight would be better that it is! But I've come up with an idea. What if you could choose your waiting music. What if you got a message, "You are realistically going to be on hold for 2 hours and 45 minutes. Please ignore the fact I just said I'd be with you momentarily. If you want to hear classic country press 1, rock press 2, non-computerized classic press 3, rap press 4, endless cyclic advertisements press 6, etc." What do you think? What would you press? I'd go for #1.

I think you have a business idea that you might want to pursue.

It would depend on the day...I listen to many types of music. Lately it has been contemporary Christian music (great stations...NO commercials, foul language, etc.). Country, Rock and Classical are great too...how about Jazz?

Great Idea!:woot:

I hate listening to the music on the phone ANY KIND. There's always a person that comes on every 30 seconds that says "Please hold your call is being transfered"

I was on hold for something not too long ago for 3 whole songs (and they last usually 15 minutes or so) before I hung up and called back later.

I always press 0 and usually get a realy person and don't have to listen to any music at all.

press #7 80's for hair metal.

the trick would be to sell something like satellite fm to hospitals and chain it on their web package. Tell them it gives a sense of consistency from hospital to hospital and that way they can be sure that there is no foul language or commercials except for those they want. then you can sell advert space . most of the phone systems run through the web server, and you can have music for those to. but god commercials on the phone

gimme garth brooks any day especially over some of this modern bang bang rubbish

It's not ALL rubbish. Only about 95% of it is *snicker*

I'm liking one or two of the modern bands - but only one or two. The rest can go in the trash heap.

That is a good idea! I don't like calling my neuro because many times, no one answers or I get the nurses' line and they don't ever call me back.
Sometimes while waiting and listening to the songs- mainly things I've never heard before- I compose the rest of the song I hear in my mind. I analys songs to death- and pick apart peices of it that I would change if I were the composer. This comes from many year of composing music LOL
It gets on my roommate's nerves- we can be standing near a restaurant and if I hear music, I discuss it and analys it a lot. Hehe

I would pick rock and roll out of those choices- but I compose jazz, new-age, 80's synth, classical and movie sound track style music.

Good idea
