Had my surgery for my new VNS yesterday and everything went great!

No problems and really doesn't hurt at all. It's only been a day but no seizures so far, hope it keeps going that way!

Great news! I'm looking forward to getting mine. I hope by mid-January!

Thats great news Valerie,
hope it helps with the seizures

Wow, that was quick, but I'm happy you had it done in such a speedy manner. Did the dr. immediately turn it on?

I'm glad to hear your doing good with your new VNS. My setting could never be low when I had one to help me.
After 3 I just gave up with the VNS

Thanks everyone!

The VNS was turned on after the surgery and set to the settings that it had been on . I have to see the neuro in about 2 weeks, waiting for a phone call back from them to make the apt.

I did end up having two seizures today. :( So I don't know if he'll make any changes to the settings or with my meds. Have to wait and see.

When I had my new VNS back in April, it was turned on the same day, also, at the same settings as the older one. Fortunately, I went 6 months without an aura after the last surgery. Maybe you'll be able to get in to see your neuro sooner since you had two seizures today. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm hoping that I can get in really quick to see my neuro. Had another seizure last night and it was a pretty bad one.

I called the neuro again on Friday and his secretary told me that she had got my message but he didn't have any appointments available at the time, nice of her to call me back and let me know that. Going to call the neuro again on Monday and see what happens. I don't know if settings or meds need changed but I want to find out as soon as possible.

It helped so much when I had the first VNS put in, I hope things don't change with the new one!

Not doing so good right now. I've had a total of 5 seizures since I had it put in. 2 of them weren't too bad, more or less an aura. One I was just pretty confused about what was going on. But the others weren't that great, I blacked out during them.

I saw my neuro on Dec 31st and he didn't make any changes to the settings on the VNS, he just made sure they were set at what they were before I had the surgery. He didn't do anything with my meds. I'll probably have to wait till my next visit, around 3 months away, to see if he's going to want to do anything.

I see the VNS dr on Thursday. I think he's basically going to look at the scar and make sure everything is healing up ok. I don't know if he can make any changes to the settings or not, or give suggestions for things?

If things don't get better soon I'm going to call my neuro and see what he has to say about it.

I'm sorry to hear that it's not working out as well as you had hoped, so far. Presumably the neuro will be able to make some adjustments, and I hope you will be able to get in to see him before 3 months have passed. I'll be thinking of you.
