Well, I had a TC seizure today, after going just over 3 years since the last one. I've still had partials, and partial complexes, but they've been under control for a good amount of time now, but TC's are very rare for me to have, so this was very unexpected for me.

I also had it during a family get-together, so I about gave everyone in my family heart attacks. This was the first time any of them had ever witnessed a TC seizure. All my other ones happened in public, and they weren't there. Fantastic timing on the seizures part... :p

A few bruises, a few scrapes, no big deal really. I'm still in a mental fog for the most part, but that'll clear up eventually.

The most memorable part of the whole thing was my cousin. She's 5 years old. The first thing I remember after I started to come out of it was her sitting next to me on the floor.

She said, "Hey, you cut your arm when you fell!"
I said, "Did I?"
And then she said, "Yeah! You fell, and then you were squirming really bad and you were bleeding! So I waited til you stopped squirming and while everyone was scared I put a band-aid on it!" She seemed very very excited about this and pointed down at my wrist.
I looked down at my arm, and sure enough, just above my wrist, there was a My Little Pony band-aid. :D

She'd never seen, heard of, or was aware of what a seizure even was... and her reaction was, "He's bleeding, I had better put a band-aid on it"
I think when she gets older, I'm gonna recommend she consider becoming a nurse. She seems like she may have potential :D

I just thought I'd share this with you all. I thought she was adorable. :)

Hi Silat,

Sorry to see you had a TC, I can imagine it must've frightened your family.
That was so sweet of your little cousin to put the bandaid on you. It sounds like she could make a good nurse or dr when she gets older :).

Did you go to the ER? Hope you are feeling better soon.

Let's not forget about the fire department. She's got the makings of a fine paramedic.

Sounds like you got a little Angel watching over you. So prescious.

Nah, I didn't head to the ER. My dad had a general idea of what to do and look for, and my sister had a good idea as well, and it didn't last all that long nor would I list it as "severe". The injuries were very minor, and I was almost back to normal pretty shortly afterwords, so there didn't seem like there would be much point in calling them. In your opinion, is that a bad decision? We also live about 11 miles from the nearest town, so I imagine it'd probably take about 15 minutes to get here. We live pretty far out in the country.

I have an appointment with my Neurologist on Thursday anyway, so I'll just call them Monday, see what they suggest for the time being, and then figure things out when I head in Thursday and see what needs to be done. :)

That sucks you had a TC. Im so sorry. Make sure you get lots of rest! Thats so sweet of your cousin to help you! Im glad she wasnt scared, but so concerned for you! :)

I wasn't sure how bad the TC was & was asking more out of curiosity.
Nope I don't think you made a bad decision at all. Since your seizure wasn't too severe & didn't last to long it sounds like you made the right decision not going to ER.

I despise having tonic/clonics but that has got to be the coolest way to come out of one.

... I'm a bit speachless... I've been so worried about having a t/c in front of my kids and scarring them half to death. Its so interesting to hear your story. Thank you for sharing.

I'm sorry you had one today after so long. Any idea why?

@Julie
Yeah... it was stress. :(
This wednesday my grandmother has to have major surgery done on her pancreas and spleen, because of cancer, and she's 80 and diabetic... soooo.... yeah.
We were discussing the "what if" situations that could arise from this, and that's when I started having my aura. I went into a full-on seizure very shortly after that. There really wasn't much warning either, unlike all of the previous times which I had about 10 minutes between the beginning of the aura, and the actual seizure.

You inspired me. I just wrote to my son and told him everything. I cried through the whole email. H8 it! And I've only just begun. ;(
