Had a siezure last night, developed rash

Im new to the forum but from what I have read this looks like I good place to ask questions. A little history...I have been having grand mal seizures about once every 6 months for the past few years. I take a pretty high dose of dilantin (400 mg morning, 400 mg at night) My seizures usually happen when I am sleeping. Last night I had another one. Im used to it by now so I wasnt concerned with calling my doctor. But, I woke up this morning and I seem to have a rash all over my neck chest and eylids. I called my doctor and shes not in they will call me later today. Is this really serious? I do not have insurance and I cant spend money right now. But, I will if i have to. Thank you for your time
 
Hi, this is from official Dilantin Side Effects Info:
"Tell your doctor if you develop a skin rash. If the rash is scale-like, characterized by reddish or purplish spots, or consists of (fluid-filled) blisters, your doctor may stop Dilantin and prescribe an alternative treatment. If the rash is more like measles, your doctor may have you stop taking Dilantin until the rash is completely gone."

So yes, it may be serious, and it's definitely worth seeing a doctor about!

Thank you for your response, it looks like measles not blisters or anything. I think I am going to give it a day and see if it clears up
 
Even if you do not have the money; the Hospitals
cannot refuse to treat or examine you. The question
here lies - WHEN was your Dilantin Level last checked?
This is the main issue right there as Dilantin must be
checked often; I would recommend that you head for
the Hospital if you do not receive any response from
your Neurologist or Epileptologist.

The other option is to phone your Primary Care Physician
(PCP) and sometimes this often will work - as he/she
is your "general overseer" over your health; and they
have the power and authority to go over the issues
and to provide advisories if necessary. And by this
I strongly recommend you to move in this direction
if all possible.

You should be able to page the Doctors, if not, the
Hospital can! Good Luck!
